A Scandinavian home is anything but predictable. We believe the style has become misperceived and many believe that clean lines with a pale color pallet and little usage af accessories and decor is the way. We firmly say no! Many Interior Design firms are separating the different styles into: Industrial/Modern/American Classic/Scandinavian/Minimalistic etc. One of the most popular ones is Scandinavian.
However, we feel it is our obligation to clarify what really represent the style from our home country. As it is it evidently heavily misconceived.
We get sad when we see interior design companies showing projects in Scandinavian style. I see a huge misconception of what true Scandinavian interior design is.
Can you see what is wrong here?
While most of us tend to associate the Scandinavian style with light, bright hues and clean lines - there are more facets to this well-loved aesthetic than meets the eye.
We often see products designed and made with little love and materials hardly suitable for furniture. And the color schemes used here are not at all what we use back home.
- What do you think If we would have chosen a lighter rug?
- If we would have chosen a small side table instead of the side board in the lower right corner? And a small table lamp on top.
- A larger wooden coffee table.
- A pouf next to the coffee table.
- Lighter curtain.
- Wall art that shows the personality of the owner.
- Other cushions, less patterned.
- Cloths
- A higher side table or console to the right of the TV. With beautiful decor on top.
- More plants/cut flowers
- A floor lamp in the right corner.
- No built in ceiling light, use accent lighting and as little ceiling light/florescent light as possible.
- The armchair is cool, the sofa works too. But we would have chosen something that creates a contrast. Too similar.
To mention a few.
We hope Möbler can change the misconception and help customers create homes with character.
